The Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN e.V.), a non-profit association founded in July 1999, is a leader nationally and internationally in the accreditation of programmes in engineering, the natural sciences, mathematics, computer sciences as well as in medicine and economics.

ASIIN’s goal is to ensure and strengthen the national and international quality of academic education.

ASIIN continuously analyses its accreditation practices (especially within the decision-making processes of the expert committees and accreditation commissions) and publishes relevant results in a series of impact studies. Thus, ASIIN fulfils the requirement of the European Standards and Guidelines to conduct thematic analyses of its working methods. These thematic analyses serve to evaluate the basic mode of operation of ASIIN’s accreditation activities, to enable critical reflection and discussion and to contribute to the improvement of quality management in a national and international context.

ASIIN consists of a number of committees that are staffed exclusively by honorary members. More than 200 experts from science and professional practice support the office with their professional expertise. All ASIIN committees are composed of representatives of universities, universities of applied sciences and professional practice on a tripartite basis.

In order to obtain the ASIIN seal, there are 4 requirements that are needed to be fullfilled :

  1. The degree programme: concept, content & implementation
  2. Exams : system, concept and organisation
  3. Resources
  4. Transparency and documentation.
  5. Quality management: quality assessment and development
