DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL AND MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING
The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, under the School of Mechanical Engineering - Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), was established on November 18, 2021, under Decision No. 2598/QD-DHBK-TCCB. The Faculty inherits the rich tradition of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering founded in 1956, which is closely linked to the establishment of HUST.
Personnel & Faculty Members
The Department consists of 7 specialized groups. The total number of full-time staff is 80, including 67 teaching faculty members and 13 technical staff (consisting of 2 Professors, 18 Associate Professors, 38 PhDs, and 18 Masters).
Educational & Training Programs
The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering currently offers training in Mechanical Engineering major group
Machine Manufacturing Technology
Precision Mechanical and Optical Engineering
Welding Engineering and Technology
Metal Forming Technology
Plastics and Composite Product Technology
With a team of experienced, highly intellectual scientists who have achieved great success in scientific research, the Department has full capacity to meet diverse educational demands, ranging from Bachelor of Technology, Bachelor of Engineering, and Engineer's degrees to Master of Science, Master of Engineering, and PhDs.
Training Scale & Quality
Training Scale: Currently, the training scale accommodates around 2,000 undergraduate students (with an annual intake quota of 500 students), approximately 100 master's students, and 20 PhD candidates. These students enroll in 02 main training programs: Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering - Griffith (a joint program with Griffith University, Australia, taught entirely in English).
International Rankings: In 2021, the Faculty's training programs under the field of Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering were ranked 300-351 globally by the prestigious QS World University Rankings, jumping 100 places compared to 2020.
Accreditation & Teaching Methods: The training programs are designed based on the CDIO framework and are continuously innovated and updated. Notably, the Mechanical Engineering program successfully completed its assessment and met the AUN/QA (Southeast Asia) standards in 2021. By combining traditional teaching methods with advanced approaches such as Blended Learning and E-learning, the Faculty provides students with enhanced technological experiences and high-quality lectures.
Scientific Research & Technology Transfer
Scientific research and technology transfer are always prioritized for development. Many Department members serve as principal investigators for numerous research projects at the National level (including Nafosted), Ministry level, and Institutional level.
Activities in testing, consulting, evaluation, and technology transfer are carried out effectively, contributing significantly to the overall success of the Department. Furthermore, the number of scientific publications by lecturers, PhD candidates, master's students, and undergraduate students has continuously increased over the years, effectively enhancing the international rankings of both the specific majors and the university as a whole.
