NTN BEARING TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR: BRINGING PRACTICAL ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE TO STUDENTS OF THE SCHOOL OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING – HUST

On the afternoon of May 22, 2026, at Room M.514 – C7, the School of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), in collaboration with NTN Bearing Vietnam Co., Ltd., successfully organized the seminar “NTN Bearing Technology”. The event attracted the participation of numerous lecturers, technical experts, and students interested in mechanical engineering and modern industrial manufacturing.

     The seminar aimed to provide students with practical knowledge about bearing technology – a critical component in most mechanical systems that directly affects the accuracy, durability, and reliability of equipment. From CNC machines and industrial robots to automobiles and modern production lines, bearings play an essential role in the operation of rotating systems.

     Representing NTN Bearing Vietnam Co., Ltd. were Mr. Sim Wei Sin – Sales Engineering Director, Mr. Le Duc Cuong – Sales Engineering Manager, along with technical experts from the company. On behalf of the School of Mechanical Engineering, the seminar welcomed Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Viet Dung – Vice Dean of the School, Assoc. Prof. Bui Tuan Anh – Head of the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, together with lecturers and a large number of students.

   In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Dung emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between universities and enterprises in engineering education, especially through activities that enable students to directly access technologies, manufacturing processes, and real-world engineering challenges from industry.

     During the seminar, experts from NTN Bearing Vietnam introduced the NTN Group – one of the world’s leading bearing and drivetrain manufacturers from Japan with more than 100 years of development under the philosophy “Make the world NAMERAKA” – making the world smoother.

    The technical sessions covered a wide range of topics, including industrial applications of bearings; classifications, structures, and characteristics of bearing types; bearing manufacturing processes; bearing life calculation methods; installation and maintenance guidelines; as well as common causes of bearing failures in actual production environments.

     A highlight of the seminar was the hands-on experience area, where students could observe real bearing models, explore practical applications, and experience the NTN Portable Vibroscope vibration measuring device. Students also had the opportunity to directly interact with NTN engineers and discuss industrial applications and technical issues encountered in manufacturing environments.

    The Q&A session at the end of the program took place enthusiastically, with many questions from students regarding bearing selection, operational optimization, failure prevention, and technology trends in mechanical engineering and manufacturing. Practical insights shared by NTN experts provided students with valuable industry perspectives and a deeper understanding of technical requirements and working environments in modern enterprises.

    The NTN Bearing Technology Seminar was one of the practical activities aimed at strengthening cooperation between the School of Mechanical Engineering – HUST and industry partners, thereby contributing to improving training quality in close connection with real-world production and the demands of the modern labor market.
