On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the School of Mechanical Engineering - Hanoi University of Science and Technology, held a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony with VAS Steel Nghi Son Company Limited at Room C7-602M. The partnership marks an important step toward strengthening collaboration in education, scientific research, student internships, and graduate recruitment.

   Representing the School of Mechanical Engineering were Assoc. Prof. Trương Hoành Sơn, Dean of the School; Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Việt Dũng, Vice Dean; Assoc. Prof. Phạm Đức An, Vice Head of the Department of Mechatronics; Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Thành Hùng, Vice Head of the Department of Mechatronics; Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Kiên Trung, Vice Head of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering, together with faculty members and staff.

   Representing VAS Steel Nghi Son Company Limited were Mr. Nguyễn Anh Dũng, Deputy General Director; Ms. Trần Thị Hồng, Deputy Head of the Human Resources Department; and other company representatives.

Assoc. Prof. Truong Hoanh Son delivered the opening remarks at the MOU signing ceremony.

   In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Trương Hoành Sơn warmly welcomed the delegation from VAS Nghi Son Steel and introduced the School of Mechanical Engineering as one of the six member schools of HUST. With nearly 300 faculty members and staff, approximately 10,000 students, and an annual enrollment of around 2,000 students, the School is the largest training unit within the University in terms of student population.

   He emphasized that collaboration with industry plays a vital role in the School's mission of educating high-quality engineering talent. Through strategic partnerships, the School aims to provide students with valuable opportunities for internships, industrial visits, scholarships, and career placement, while also promoting joint research and technology transfer activities.

   Assoc. Prof. Trương Hoành Sơn also highlighted the strong potential for cooperation with VAS Nghi Son Steel, a leading manufacturer of steel coils and reinforcing bars that operates a modern deep-water seaport. He expressed his expectation that the company would become a long-term strategic partner, contributing to student development and engineering education in the years ahead.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung delivered a speech at the MOU signing ceremony.

   Speaking on behalf of the company, Mr. Nguyễn Anh Dũng expressed his appreciation for the School's support in connecting businesses with students. He noted that such collaboration enables enterprises to engage more effectively in student training while identifying and recruiting highly qualified engineering graduates.

   Mr. Dũng introduced VAS Nghi Son Steel as a manufacturer equipped with advanced production lines for steel coils and reinforcing bars, supplying high-quality steel products to both domestic and international markets. As the company continues to expand with new production facilities and manufacturing lines, the demand for skilled engineers and technical personnel is increasing significantly. He therefore expressed his hope for closer cooperation with the School in developing a highly qualified engineering workforce.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong introduced VAS Nghi Son Steel Co., Ltd. at the MOU signing ceremony.

    During the ceremony, Ms. Trần Thị Hồng presented an overview of the company, which currently operates two steelmaking and rolling plants in Nghi Son Economic Zone and is preparing to commission its third rolling mill by the end of 2026. In addition, the company owns a deep-water seaport capable of accommodating vessels of up to 100,000 DWT as well as container ships, providing a significant advantage for production and logistics.

    Ms. Hồng also introduced internship opportunities for SME students and outlined the company's attractive employment policies, including competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, professional development programs, and clear career advancement pathways for newly recruited engineers.

     As part of the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Trương Hoành Sơn and Mr. Nguyễn Anh Dũng officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the two organizations. Following the signing, representatives from both sides discussed future collaborative initiatives, focusing on education, internships, recruitment, scholarships, scientific research, and industry engagement activities.

     The MOU signing ceremony marks the beginning of a promising partnership between the School of Mechanical Engineering – HUST and VAS Steel Nghi Son Company Limited through this collaboration, both parties reaffirm their shared commitment to nurturing high-quality engineering talent while strengthening the connection between academia and industry to meet the evolving demands of Vietnam's manufacturing sector.
