Title: Embedded System Architecture and Implementation of Media-centric Signal Processing
Abstract: Recent demands for information appliances including smartphones and wearable devices are to equip multimedia functionalities such as video and audio processing. On the other hand, state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication technologies have enabled various functions to be integrated onto single chip, so to call, advent of “everything-on-a-chip” era. In fact, recently developed chips, which are applicable for embedded systems in terms of chip size and power consumption, achieve efficient video processing. It can be assumed that this trend steadily continues this decade. In such a circumstance, it is more important to make differentiation in media processing technologies. In this talk, first the current typical embedded system architecture for media processing is reviewed. Then several differentiation techniques and its implementation areintroduced.
